ABOUT THE HOSTEL

The 2nd beach hostel of the Hangover chain, Hangover Hostels Arugam Bay invites travellers, surfers and sun worshipers to immerse themselves in all what this East Coast fishing village, Arugam Bay has to offer. The hostel which offers secure, modern, clean and comfortable living spaces is well known as the hostel for good vibes and meeting like mined travellers in a cool atmosphere. Located 400 metres from the main strip and just 200 metres from the main surf point. Surfing is one of the main attractions of Arugam Bay and here you can ride the waves to your heart’s content. Whether you are a pro or a beginner, there are plenty of shops renting surf boards and surf schools offering professional help to get you off the ground.
Our Concept is simple; It is “affordable luxury accommodation”. Super comfortable beds with fresh linen, Free WI-FI, AC in every room, hot shower, individual lamp/USB/charger, big secure lockers, friendly and helpful staff that all contribute to ensuring a great stay.
The hostel consists of 4 bed dorms and 8 bed dorms which all have en—suite bathroom facilities.

THE ACCOMMODATION

	4 BED MIXED DORM The dorm comes with en-suite bathroom facilities. Fully AC ed and has highspeed WiFi. All beds are cushioned with a 9 inch thick mattress which guarantees a good night sleep. Personal bedside reading lamp and USB port to charge those essential handheld devises. Individual Lockers that will easily fit in a large backpack. Secure Electronic Key card system to access the dorm ensuring high levels of security. All linen provided and towels can be hired from the reception. Bathroom has hot water and the high pressure rain water shower is sure to impress. Daily housekeeping staff.

GETTING THERE

By bus
Frequent buses from Colombo to Pottuvil – the nearest town to Arugam Bay. Most buses travel via Ratnapura, Welawaya, Buttala, Monaragala.

Luxury aircon bus leave Colombo Airport and Colombo Fort daily.

The bus ride ends in town of Putuveli, which is about 3-5 km to most guesthouses in Arugam Bay. Tuk-tuks ask for Rs.200-300, but Rs.150 is a fair price.

By train
Nearest train stations are Ella or Badulla on the Mountain line and Batticaloa using the inland line via Polonaruwa. All three stations are about 135 km from Arugam Bay.

By taxi
Private taxi services can be arranged at any time of day or night. The transit time from the main international airport to Arugam Bay is 7 hours for the 350 km trip.

By air
Sri Lankan Airlines operates Air Taxi services on demand landing directly on the Arugam Bay lagoon.
